The Rockefeller Foundation
The Rockefeller Foundation was looking for a unique way to celebrate the 100th anniversary of its founding. What began as the launch of a single signature event grew into a multi-year contract extension to launch its inaugural Global Innovation Forum, host a global convening of leaders in philanthropy and international development, and a new digital home for its centennial celebration programming. Ultimately, my work at Blue State contributed to new contracts and upsells with the Foundation valued at over $2 million.
2011 Innovation Forum
Blue State was initially hired by the Rockefeller Foundation to support the launch of its inaugural Innovation Forum with a digital strategy to engage a global audience.
As lead strategist, I helped create a program that engaged millions of people worldwide. The Innovation Forum engaged 2.3 million Twitter users and the video livestream reached 16,000 unique audience members. Our success on this first project directly led to winning multiple new contracts with the Rockefeller Foundation and their partners.

The Bellagio Summit
The Bellagio Summit was created by the Institute of Development Studies and the Resource Alliance to support philanthropy and international development efforts. As lead strategist, I traveled to The Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Center in Italy to manage digital communications for the 15-day summit.
I produced and distributed daily live event coverage including emails, on-camera interviews, and social media posts. The summit coverage captured a global audience and quadrupled their email member base.

The Centennial Celebration
We were also hired to design and produce the digital program supporting The Rockefeller Foundation’s Centennial celebration.
As lead strategist, I developed and implemented website content, infographics based on archival materials, a comprehensive digital engagement strategy and social media program, and capacity building training for their team.
The campaign ended up being the Rockefeller Foundation’s most successful digital program to date and once again earned Blue State a multi-year contract extension.
